STEM and Robotics

The course aims at providing teachers with practical ideas on how they can incorporate technology into their lessons, promote basic training on topics such as controls, automatisms, robots and programmable machines and to familiarize them with current use of robotics and coding in nowadays education trends. There is no need of prior knowledge of the Arduino board and programming methods, as the course starts introducing everything from scratch. By the end of the course you will have all the skills required for your own Arduino project. During the course we will give you an Arduino set and all the different parts needed to work on your own. After just a few practice exercises you will start to understand not only the C++ coding language, but also how the different devices around us actually work.

Flipped and Game Based Learning

This course will introduce teachers to the most relevant educational apps, learning platforms, learning management systems, and extensions for education. Participants will learn about blended learning and flipped learning pedagogies through these apps and platforms. The trainer will help the participants create their own online materials according to their own area/ subject of interest and will pilot their materials with the other participants. The flipped classroom has been defined as a pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. Short video lectures are viewed by students at home before the class session, while in-class time is devoted to hands-on exercises, projects, or discussions.

Design e-learning courses and blended activities

E-learning opens up access to a wealth of information and resources and, if delivered correctly, can make the process of teaching and learning more fluid and enjoyable. In this course, participants will handle the principles of instructional design with a practical approach. They will be introduced to the main open-source authoring tools (software packages which developers use to create and package e-learning content that is deliverable to users) and will measure themselves in designing and developing their own project.

Entrepreneurship in education

The idea of infusing entrepreneurship into education has spurred much enthusiasm in the last few decades. A myriad of effects has been stated to result from this, such as economic growth, job creation and increased societal resilience, but also individual growth, increased school engagement and improved equality. Putting this idea into practice has however posed significant challenges alongside the stated positive effects. Lack of time and resources, teachers’ fear of commercialism, impeding educational structures, assessment difficulties and lack of definitional clarity are some of the challenges practitioners have encountered when trying to infuse entrepreneurship into education. Entrepreneurship in Education offers teachers and education staff a set of tools and applications that can be implemented promoting communication, collaboration, critical thinking creativity and feedback in a simple, instant and effective way in the framework of the learning objectives that one has set for his students.
